Did you know?

The gestation period for female tigers lasts for approximately 93 to 112 days. The typical litter size ranges from two to four cubs, but larger litters have been recorded. Cubs are born blind and are completely dependent on their mother for the first few months of their lives.

About the picture

This image was taken in Ranthambhore National Park in December 2018. These sub-adult cubs were almost ready to leave their mother to establish their own territory. The dominant male did not like his sister coming near him and suddenly became angry and charged at her. This was a display of his dominance and aggression. They separated after a while, but not before they had both sustained some serious bruises.

Fun Fact

The collective noun for a group of tigers is called an ambush or a streak.
