Did you know?
In 1936, the first National Park in India was established as Hailey National Park. This name was later changed to Jim Corbett National Park, Uttarakhand. On April 1, 1973, the Government of India launched a programme–Project Tiger–to conserve and protect the Royal Bengal Tiger and its habitat. This year, we are celebrating the Golden Jubilee of Project Tiger as it marks 50 successful years of this programme.
About the picture
This male tiger was photographed in the Bijrani zone of Corbett National Park in January 2023. While my friends and I were observing a small herd of elephants in the morning, this male appeared from nowhere, walked right across the nala, and disappeared into the forest. With sharp skills and a bit of luck, we had just enough time to see this huge fellow and also capture this amazing image.
Fun Fact
Like a human fingerprint, no two tigers have the same pattern of stripes on their coats.
