Did you know?

The Plum-Headed Parakeet prefers forest and open woodland and is sometimes even found in extensive urban gardens. Their habitat ranges from the foothills of the Himalayas to Sri Lanka. Males have darker reddish-purplish heads.

About the picture

I was able to get this photo of a male Plum-Headed Parakeet while it was in the process of flying from one tree to another. The entire forest was colourful since it was the flowering season. Here you can see flowers from two species of trees – Flame of the Forest on the left and Silk Cotton Tree on the right.

Fun Fact

The Plum-Headed Parakeet is endemic to the Indian Subcontinent.
