The White-Throated Laughingthrush is found mainly in the northern regions of the Indian subcontinent, primarily the Himalayas. It ranges across Afghanistan, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Tibet, and Vietnam as well. The Laughingthrush is known for making high whistle-like sounds, often from within foliage. It is common in foothill forests but will also occasionally venture into parks and gardens.
About the picture
In this photo, one can very clearly see the white throat. The contrast of the brown, orange, and white of the bird on the rich green moss-grown branch adds to the beauty of the frame.
Fun Fact
These birds are known for their complex vocalizations, which consist of a combination of whistles, trills, and harsher notes. Their calls are often described as a series of melodious laughs, hence their common name.
