Did you know?

Delacour’s Langur or Delacour’s Lutung is a critically endangered langur endemic to North Vietnam. 80% of their diet consists of foliage, with the remaining consisting of fruits, seeds, and flowers. Delacour’s Langur is also known as the langur with the white shorts owing to its unique creamy white fur on the rump and outer thighs. Sadly, there are less than 300 individuals left in the wild.

About the picture

Seen here are two female Delacour’s Langurs, photographed in Vietnam in 2023. One of them can be seen nursing a young one, giving us hope that this species will one day thrive in large numbers.

Fun Fact

The Delacour’s Langur is diurnal (active during the day). When they are not foraging, they spend most of the time inside cool limestone caves or rocky ledges.
