Did you know?
Ranthambore National Park is one of the biggest and most renowned national parks in Northern India. The park is in the Sawai Madhopur district of south-eastern Rajasthan, which is about 130 km from Jaipur. It was once considered one of the preferred hunting grounds of the Maharajas of Jaipur before it became a protected national park.
About the picture
This beautiful portrait of Sundari, the tigress, was taken by my wife, Asha, in Ranthambore National Park in April 2008. Sundari was resting in the open area adjoining Rajbhag lake early in the morning. After some time, she got up and started walking through the golden grass of the park. Occasionally she would pause, sit, and look around intently for prey. The golden hues of the grass, the light, and Sundari herself make this a beautiful image.
Fun Fact
The South China tiger has the fewest stripes, while the Sumatran tiger has the most.
