Did you know?

In 1900, India had an estimated 40,000 tigers. By 1972, this number had declined to just 1,827, prompting the promulgation of the Wildlife (Protection) Act that year and the creation of tiger reserves. In 2022, the tiger population in India rebounded to 3,167. However, it remains to be seen whether this is enough to ensure the long-term survival of the species.

About the picture

This adorable and beautiful tiger cub was photographed in Kanha National Park in 2016. The mother tiger had left the cubs to go hunting, and the two cubs were playing on a low branch of a tree. One of the cubs just happened to look at me with an intriguing expression when I clicked the photograph.
