Did you know?

The Verditer Flycatcher is an Old World flycatcher found from the Himalayas through Southeast Asia to Sumatra. This species is named after its distinctive shade of copper-sulphate blue. It has a dark patch between the eyes and above the bill base. The adult males are intense blue on all areas of the body, except for the black eye patch and grey vent. Adult females and sub-adults are lighter blue.

About the picture

These small birds are very fast when they are hunting for insects and other food. However, they also like to perch on bare branches either to rest or to plan their next hunting strategy. It was when this Verditer Flycatcher chose to perch, that I clicked this picture in Sattal, Uttarakhand.
