Did you know?

The Yellow-Footed Green Pigeon, also known as the Yellow-Legged Green Pigeon, is a common species of green pigeon found in the Indian subcontinent and parts of Southeast Asia. These birds are usually found sunning themselves on top of tall trees in dense forest areas, early in the morning.

About the picture

This photograph was taken in April 2013. We spotted this pair of Yellow-Footed Green Pigeons sitting on the bare branches of a tree in Nagarhole National Park and this image was taken by our son, Punarvas Jayakumar. The light was beautiful and I like how the branches frame the two birds.

Fun Fact

The Yellow-Footed Green Pigeon is the state bird of Maharashtra.
