About the picture

The Marvelous Spatuletail is named after the male's remarkable tail feathers, which consist of two long, wire-like feathers ending in broad, spatula-shaped discs. These tail feathers can be independently moved and manipulated during courtship displays, creating a mesmerizing spectacle. Males have a combination of iridescent green and blue plumage on their bodies, with a white breast and a dark blue crown. Females have a more subdued coloration with green and white feathers.
