As the name suggests, the Silver-throated tanager is over all bright yellow with a silvery throat patch. Silver-throated Tanagers are brightly-colored, tropical birds found from Costa Rica to Ecuador. Average sized birds with approximately 5 inches (13 cms). Both sexes looks similar, while females are tad dull. Silver-throated is one of 27 Tanager found in tall second growth forest as well as in mossy forest, montane evergreen forest and tropical lowland evergreen forest. The Neotropical realm is one of the eight biogeographic realms constituting Earth's land surface. Physically, it includes the tropical terrestrial ecoregions of the Americas and the entire South American temperate zone.

About the picture

Typically found in open areas such as forest edges or gardens, but also in forest canopy. These birds are Omnivorous and feeds on fruits and also Arthropods. It’s the job of Females to build nests, in forested or isolated areas, normally in the month of April. While Male takes on the job of bringing food and also nesting material to their partners. They lay 2 eggs at a trot in consecutive days and the young ones leave the nests by 15 days
